Post-doctoral Research Assistant

Salary: £28,660 to £33,199 pro rata

The International Centre for Community Music (ICCM) is seeking proposals for a part-time Postdoctoral Researcher, funded until December 2021
The successful candidate will work alongside the project team on all aspects of the project entitled Ethno: 30 years of intercultural learning in traditional music.

The Ethno project was founded by Jeunesses Musicales Internationales (JMI) in 1990, with a mission to revive and keep alive global cultural heritage amongst young people, through engaging musicians aged 13-30 with folk, world and traditional music. It has a global presence in over 15 countries, with a programme including annual international summer music camps, as well as workshops and touring groups.

Applicants should have a PhD in the Humanities or Social Sciences, with experience in ethnographic research strategies and theory building. Candidates with music-making experience and expertise in ethnomusicology, community music, and music teaching and learning are of particularly interest. The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly and independently and build effective working relationships. The post-holder will need to be highly organised, have good time management skills, and have excellent written and oral communication.
