Training the Community Musician 2023
20 February 2023 - 21 February 2023
Join us at Sage Gateshead for our annual event where we will explore brave spaces, activism, policy and more. TTCM 2023 completes our series of four symposiums delivered by Sound Sense in partnership with the University of Aberdeen.

Planning continues for our Training the Community Musician (TTCM) symposium at Sage Gateshead on 20-21 February 2023. With a developing programme looking at key issues facing our field, we’re excited to welcome Ele Belfiore and Oli Furness to our team of facilitators for this event.

Ele is Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Inclusion and Cultural Diversity at University of Aberdeen, and an expert in cultural policy and social impacts of the arts. Oli is co-founder and Artistic Director of Oi Musica, and will lead our focus on community music and activism asking “What are we fighting for?”. Plus we will be exploring “From safe space to brave space” with Chris Gray as a way into rewarding and inclusive discussions on difficult topics.

Booking will open soon: as a Sound Sense member you will be first to hear, so keep an eye out for our social posts and emails.
