About me/us:

Comhaltas is an international voluntary organisation dedicated to preserving and promotion of Irish Traditional Music, song, dance, language and storytelling. Established in 1951 in Ireland with over 415 branches around the world each providing education to young people and adults who have an interest in Irish music. First established in Britain in 1957 we currently have 25 branches who teach music classes on a weekly basis as well as organising events, concerts, sessions, festivals, social community events and annual competitions for music singing and dance. Our focus and activity centres on a whole of community approach supporting the Irish community (origin, ethnicity and affinity) through access and opportunity in music, arts and culture.
