Quench Arts is seeking to appoint three freelance Young Music Leaders for its new Plugin project, which provides creative music-making opportunities for young mental health inpatients in Birmingham aged 12-25
The Plugin project uses accessible music technology to develop musical skills and composition, whilst building participants’ self-esteem, emotional literacy and social connectedness.
These roles will cover one year of Plugin activity, from Feb 2019-December 2019, funded by Youth Music, with match funding from Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (Ardenleigh FCAMHS/Adriatic Ward; Reaside/Tamarind Clinic) and Woodbourne Priory Hospital. The opportunity will be offered to other Young Music Leaders in years 2 and 3.
YMLs will be paid £50 per session for a max of 81 sessions across Feb 2019 – Jan 2020, plus £75 planning and £50 evaluation per setting. YML will also be required to write a short blog about their experience for a fee of £25. Sessions include: planning/evaluation sessions per setting (meetings/documentation as required); 2 peer reflection meetings; supporting at 30 weekly Plugin sessions per setting (60 total); supporting at 8 Plugin Arts Awards sessions per setting (16 total) supporting at an informal sharing per setting (2 total); supporting at a combined setting end of year project celebration (1 total). YMLs will also be required to undertake training on accepting the role.
