Music Making SENse is looking for an inspirational and innovative music leader who is confident in supporting and fostering the musical aspirations of primary school children with SEN/D

This is a freelance fixed-term maternity cover position – starting November/December 2021 – July 2022 with options for this role to continue as new opportunities arise.

Music Making SENse believes everyone should have the chance to learn from, share, and make music with others. The role of the tutor will be to facilitate and support growth through music making ensembles and choirs. Tutors will stimulate and develop musical skills through engaging repertoire and activities, and enable creative responses from participants to flourish, enhancing their musical, personal, and social development. Sessions may include instrumental play, vocalising, improvising in an ensemble as well as performances, composition, assistive technology, and cross-curricular connections as appropriate to the group.

This Mitcham-based role will involve delivering a curriculum-based music education programme following MMS and setting assessment goals and programming.

Time commitment: Mondays and Wednesdays at a SEN Primary School during term time 9.00am – 3.00pm.

About you:

We are looking for inspirational and innovative music leaders. You must be confident of your ability to support others musical aspirations and create an inclusive and accessible space for collaboration; strong musical skills and experience of working in SEN/D settings is essential. You must be able to foster good and supportive working relationships with staff in the settings. The role includes planning in line with MMS practice, as well as curriculum goals in some settings. Experience and music leadership skills are essential to these roles.

Rate of pay:

£40 per hour. Rate includes planning time, travel expenses and reflects the experience and skills required of tutor. Training/observation day/s rate before commencing role: £20 per hour.
