Saturday Choir Leader Wanted
Starting January 2027
£40ph (choir leadership), £35.50-36.50ph (1-1 and ensemble work), Self Employed

Our vision is a borough where music resonates along the corridors of every school
and echoes throughout the community. A place of aspiration where every child can
find their first notes, make progress and flourish as a young musician.

We are seeking an inspiring and dynamic choral leader to spearhead Merton Music
Foundation’s two main Saturday choirs at our South Wimbledon Music Centre. This is
an exciting opportunity to shape their musical direction, lead rehearsals and prepare
singers for concerts across the borough and beyond. Experience of leading choirs or
vocal ensembles, particularly with children and young people, is essential. Once
appointed to our teaching panel, further offers of work can be made in response to
demand and tutor availability.

Saturday Choir Lead – Young Voices & Voice Box, SW19, £40ph
We are looking for a choir leader for two Saturday choirs at Merton Music Foundation’s South Wimbledon Music Centre:
• Merton Young Voices, 9am-10am, for children in Years 3-6
• VoiceBox – 10am-11am, for young people in Years 7-13

Each choir brings together approximately 40 singers, supported by a dedicated
accompanist. The Choir Leader will shape the musical direction of both ensembles,
plan and deliver engaging rehearsals, and select and prepare repertoire. They will
create an inclusive and supportive environment, inspiring singers of different abilities,
including learners with SEND, to develop their vocal skills, musicianship and
confidence.

The role involves preparing both choirs for the Foundation’s busy programme of
concerts and events across Merton and beyond throughout the academic year. The
successful candidate will also have the opportunity to co-lead MMF’s massed choirs
at our biennial Royal Albert Hall schools’ concert, bringing together 1,500 young
musicians and singers from across our borough.
