Salary pay scale : £29,329 - £31,959 (pro rata)
We are recruiting a Musician-in-Residence for our work at our prison partner, HMP Featherstone, in Featherstone, Staffordshire, as well as one day per week in hubs in Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Stoke.
You will deliver a number of sessions per week, where you will teach, rehearse, and record individuals and groups of prison residents. You will also deliver our post-release programme supporting other musicians, which consists of one-to-one mentoring, performances, and monthly group sessions conducted in the community.
You will need to be a skilled and confident musician, able to play at least two instruments, and be able to teach to a basic level in four. Most of the work involves guitar tuition and band rehearsal, but other styles and instruments are also valuable. Above all, applicants must be assured, flexible, and comfortable with many musical styles.
The work also involves organising occasional concerts in prison, concerts for participants at local churches, and performing with prison residents at prison chaplaincy services. No experience working in the prison system is required as full training will be given. The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
Due to the various locations of this job we believe that it is essential for the right candidate to be able to drive and own a car.
We are an equal opportunities employer and are especially keen to encourage applications from people under-represented in our organisation. Currently, this is those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.
