Musician in Residence
Location: Staffordshire
Deadline: 21 April 2021
Changing Tunes is seeking a Musician in Residence to deliver a number of sessions per week teaching, rehearsing, and recording individuals and groups of prison residents, for its work in HMP Swinfen Hall

2 or 2.5 days per week, £24,401 (pro rata)

We are recruiting a new Musician in Residence for our work in HMP Swinfen Hall. You will deliver a number of sessions per week in HMP Swinfen Hall, where you will teach, rehearse, and record individuals and groups of prison residents. You will also deliver our post-release programme supporting other musicians, which consists of one-to-one mentoring, performances, and monthly group sessions conducted in the community.

You will need to be a skilled and confident musician, able to play at least two instruments, and be able to teach to basic level in four. Most of the work involves guitar tuition and band rehearsal, but other styles and instruments are also valuable. Above all, applicants must be assured, flexible, and comfortable with many musical styles.

The work also involves organising occasional concerts in prison, concerts for participants at local churches, and performing with prison residents at prison chaplaincy services. No experience working in the prison system is required as full training will be given. The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
