Sing Up is an award-winning music education company that believes in the power of singing to transform lives. We provide teachers, music practitioners and vocal leaders in the UK and around the world with high-quality singing and music education resources via a digital platform.

We're looking for a Music Editor with a proven track record of commissioning, developing and delivering music content for publication. This is not primarily an audio production, teaching or performance role. We're seeking someone with experience making editorial decisions, managing contributors, and taking music content from concept through to publication.

This role is central to the production of songs; including new commissions and 3rd party copyright arrangements for our world-class Song Bank, with a particular focus on commissioning high-quality audio tracks, and preparing content for digital publication.

About the role
As Music Editor, you'll contribute to the selection, commissioning, editing, and delivery of music and educational content ensuring materials are engaging, accurate and of the highest quality.

You'll:

Commission original songs and arrangements, audio tracks and other educational content for publication.
Work with external contributors such as songwriters, vocalists and music producers coordinating recording projects and other resource development projects.
Occasionally attend recording sessions ensuring the creation of accurate and high quality audio.
Assess commissioned work against editorial briefs, publication standards and audience needs, providing clear developmental feedback where required.
Make editorial recommendations regarding repertoire selection, content suitability and publication readiness.
Ensure commissioned content aligns with Sing Up's educational, musical and editorial standards.
Prepare and upload content for publication via Sing Up's digital platform.
Support the maintenance of production schedules, records, budgets and editorial processes.
Collaborate closely with colleagues across publishing, digital learning and marketing.
You'll work with internal teams and a wide network of song writers, arrangers, writers, musicians, teachers, engineers and other contributors to ensure Sing Up's content continues to inspire and support music-making in schools and beyond.

Salary and benefits: Full time equivalent £30,000 - £32,000 per annum, generous holiday allowance, and other benefits.

Contract type: Permanent, part time (0.6- or 22.5-hours p/w)

Location: UK-wide. Depending on location, either fully remote homeworking, or hybrid working (home and office based) when in proximity to Sing Up’s Gateshead office.
