Drake Music Scotland has funding from Creative Scotland’s Strengthening Fund to recruit new musicians to work in schools.We are looking for musicians who have already had some experience in a variety of music education settings and can point to relevant professional or voluntary experience in music education.
Each of the new musicians will take part in a training programme with access to a mentor throughout the project. Additional training will be provided in the technologies, Figurenotes notation and methods that Drake Music Scotland use prior to any projects being delivered.
Each successful candidate will be offered a 10 week on the job training project with an assigned mentor to work with during the project. After that they will become a Drake Music Scotland Associate Musician, contracted on a freelance basis to deliver work on behalf of the organisation across the country.
Essential selection criteria (not the complete list):
- Good musical skills and experience of leading music workshops
- Confidence, enthusiasm and readiness to undertake professional development
- Ability to deliver music projects with people in variety of settings including online, face to face, and pre-recorded resources
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Commitment to engage with music technology
