Location: Tolbooth, Stirling
Contract: Freelance
Sessions: Term time Tuesday evenings (32 sessions between Apr 26–Apr 27, 4 x 8 week blocks), 2 performances (dates TBC)

About the Role
Tolbooth Youth Voices is a new, free singing group for primary-aged children in the Stirling area, designed to be joyful, social and accessible — no prior musical experience required.
We are looking for a choir leader who can inspire young singers, build confidence and foster a sense of belonging through group singing. Much like our adult choir (Tolbooth Voices), we want Tolbooth Youth Voices to have same ethos as an alternative, non traditional choir that is welcoming and inclusive. We are looking for someone that can deliver a repertoire of current, contemporary and unusual songs that would appeal to and engage young people.
Tolbooth Youth Voices is part of our Stirling Sounds project funded by Youth Music Initiative.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead fun, structured one-hour weekly choir sessions for children aged P1–P7
• Teach basic vocal technique, rhythm and musical skills through singing
• Encourage participant input into song choices and activities
• Support occasional performances at community events
• Work alongside youth support assistants, a Youth Music Trainee and venue staff
• Contribute brief reflective notes for evaluation

Payment Information
The overall freelance fee is £2,992, calculated as follows:
• 32 x 1-hour teaching sessions @ £44 per hour
• 32 x 1-hour weekly planning time @ £44 per hour
• 2 x 1-hour performances plus 1 hour planning time @ £44 per hour
All fees are inclusive and paid in line with Musicians’ Union guidance. A small travel allowance can be provided if required.
All tutors taking part in our Stirling Sounds projects will have the opportunity to take part in two optional CPD peer training sessions which will be paid and take place throughout the year.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:
• Has experience working with children in group music settings
• Has a warm, encouraging facilitation style
• Is committed to inclusive, child-centred practice
• Holds a PVG membership

We encourage applications from the right candidates regardless of age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, belief or race.
