This is a freelance fixed term position running from October 2021 - June 2022.
The Spark Arts for Children is working with partners across Leicester and Leicestershire to develop champions for music in early years settings as part of a new network. This two-year project has been funded by Youth Music and local music partners.
We are looking for two musicians who will work with The Spark and our partners at Leicester City Council on our Music Champion project.
The Brief:
- We are specifically looking for a musician to work with local families and library/ nursery settings.
- They must commit to a bespoke CPD training programme alongside delivery in settings.
- They will co design and co deliver explorative music led sessions in partnership with an Early Years practitioner.
- They must commit to an open and continuous process of reflection and planning in partnership with their EY practitioner and as part of a cohort of Music Champions.
- They will co-host a sharing event in their setting for the wider network.
Criteria for selection:
- Highly skilled musician.
- Experience and interest of working with early years (EY) children.
- Committed to working with staff working in EY settings/community venues.
- Desire to explore how to embed high quality musical learning supported by peer reflection and continued professional development opportunity.
- Committed to becoming a music champion and working in Leicester/Leicestershire in EY settings.
- Experience of developing and delivering creative activities with children and parents.
- Experience of working with children, enabling them to gain confidence to contribute and develop in language and communication activities.
