Working alongside people with dementia: 'Planning & Reflecting'
11 July 2023
The third full day session in a new training course from Sounds Better CIC

Building on the success of their pre-pandemic training days, Sounds Better CIC (formerly Music for Wellbeing CIC) have launched a new, developed and expanded training course in Working Musically Alongside People with Dementia.

Taking place face to face over 4 days in the Salisbury area from March - September 2023 the course will take you from an introductory level to more advanced skills and ideas, including planning and reflecting models. You will be able to implement activities and ideas immediately, developing over time, working with a group of people with dementia, and connecting with others in the field.

This third day of the course - 'Planning & Reflecting' - will introduce the importance of planning and reflecting in working musically alongside people with dementia, taking into account varying needs within a group. It will also introduce different sensory and creative approaches to working with people living with dementia, and how these can be included in a music session. There will be an opportunity to explore planning and reflection models, try new ways of working (for you) in a safe environment and receive peer feedback and support.

By the end of the day, you will have

  • been introduced to various models and processes of planning and reflection
    developed area(s) of your practice
  • received peer feedback and support in your practice
  • connected with people working in the field of music and dementia
