Emily Foulkes and Nicola Wydenbach are experienced singing practitioners working with people with mental health issues.
Nicola Wydenbach started her own mental health choir in Sevenoaks in 2014, called the D’Vine Singers and has now the become MD of the Mind and Soul Choir.
Emily Foulkes has (almost) completed MA studies in Voice Pedagogy with a specialism in Singing for Health and Well-being as a researcher/practitioner. Her research has mainly been in trauma and mental health. She is a Trauma and Mental Health Practitioner and Trainer and has worked with children, young people and adults with mental health disorders. This includes in schools, with young people excluded from school, an adolescent mental health unit and with adults
The training was going to be held at the Maudsley itself but we are now delighted to offer it online. The training session will offer practical insights into how to work in this sector as well as a toolkits of useful songs, ideas and practice. The Mind and Soul Choir will also be taking part in order for trainees to gain real life experience of this work
With over twenty years of experience between them it proves to be an invaluable day for practitioners hoping to work in this field.
