Musicians Without Borders Music Leadership Training – Special Rate for Sound Sense Members
14–18 June 2027 | Leeds Beckett University
Musicians Without Borders (MWB) is returning to Leeds Beckett University in June 2027 for its five-day Welcome Notes Music Leadership Training, offering community musicians, educators and arts practitioners the opportunity to develop their skills in inclusive music leadership.
Musicians Without Borders is an international organisation with over 25 years of experience using music to bridge divides, connect communities and support people affected by war, conflict and displacement. Its Welcome Notes programme focuses on strengthening the social inclusion and wellbeing of refugees and displaced people through participatory music-making.
Drawing on this international experience, the training equips participants with practical skills and approaches for working with people experiencing vulnerability, particularly refugees, asylum seekers and those affected by forced migration.
Through hands-on workshops, creative activities and reflective learning, participants will explore MWB's core principles of safety, inclusion, equality, creativity and quality. The training also covers the relationship between music, trauma and the nervous system, alongside practical techniques for facilitating inclusive community music workshops.
Sound Sense members are eligible for the reduced partner rate of £550 (normally £650), saving £100.
Five funded places are also available for eligible applicants, including people directly affected by conflict or with lived experience of forced migration, and Leeds Beckett University students and staff. Funding covers the training fee but excludes travel and accommodation.
Places are limited to 30 participants, and applications are now open.
