This two-day short course will offer a thorough introduction to the broad and fascinating field of music therapy, in particular the Nordoff Robbins approach. It will be a lively and active event full of music-making, discussion and sharing of points of view in a mutually supportive environment. You will have a chance to learn about the history of music therapy approaches, the theories and supporting evidence for the work, examine detailed case studies, and explore practical music-making through experiential workshop activities.
The summer school will be run by experienced music therapists from the charity Nordoff & Robbins. Nordoff & Robbins is the UK's largest music therapy charity, delivering music therapy services, education and research across the country.
The course is suitable for anyone interested in learning about music therapy; allied health professionals, education staff, students, carers and family members, community musicians, arts facilitators, prospective music therapy trainees and any other interested individuals.
