This training day is an opportunity to learn more about community music and inclusive music making from experienced music leaders, the wide-ranging holistic impacts it can have for participants and gain new skills to apply in your own practice.

Inclusion is a strategic priority in the new National Plan for Music Education, creating accessible and supportive ways for young people of all abilities to connect with music making both in and out school. A community music approach is also an ideal way of working with adult participants and bringing people together in shared creative activities, with benefits for mental health, community and confidence, a key part of the Arts Council’s Let’s Create strategy.

By the end of this event, you have an understanding of the theory behind community music practice and why it is important. You’ll also learn practical workshop skills and techniques which you can apply in your own work.
