The theme for this meeting is Working across community settings – from hospitals and care homes to schools and beyond.
The meeting will be hosted by Soundpost at the University of Sheffield and co-chaired by Frances Watt, Soundpost, and Kerry Fletcher, FEG Coordinator. Inspiring speakers will include Brightside Music in Health, Aisling Holmes and Becky Eden-Green, folk song in residential care with older people, Rosie Hood, Fay Hield, University of Sheffield, discussing the Higher Education folk education sector with Bryony Griffith and Rachael Sutcliffe from Leeds College of Music’s new folk music degree, Jess Arrowsmith’s work with adult voice workshops and Soundpost’s Folk Factory for young people with Nicola Beazely, Bryony Griffith’s Carol Project and an English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) update from Sarah Jones, on the National Youth Folk Ensemble, and Rachel Elliott, on the education work across the country, including the Dance Development programme.
There will be practical music making, so bring your instruments, voices and dancing feet! Having been enthused by the speakers' presentations, there will also be the chance for more in-depth discussions and sharing of ideas.
