Decolonising music in the early years
03 November 2020
A London Early Years Music Network (LEYMN) session to enable discussions about the history and heritage of the repertoire used with children and young people, and to take a collective step forward

The Black Lives Matter movement has prompted some long overdue discussions among music educators about the history and heritage of the repertoire used with children and young people, and the homogenous nature of musical content.

We are absolutely delighted to welcome music education consultant Nate Holder (www.nateholdermusic.com) to this online LEYMN meeting to share his perspective and practice on decolonising music education, and the implications of this for early years practice and practitioners.

Following Nate’s talk, there will be the opportunity for discussion in breakout rooms, to enable early years practitioners to share practice and ideas, and to take a collective step forward.
