Sound Sense, in partnership with the University of Aberdeen and Edinburgh Youth Music Forum, invites you to take part in the first of a series of symposia, bringing together practitioners who teach Community Music in formal, informal and non-formal settings. The symposia will focus on the sharing of practices and approaches in the training of community musicians whilst developing a shared understanding of the issues facing those who teach this emerging field and how, as a network, we can support them.

The event is open to practitioners who train others in community practice in formal, informal and non formal sectors and any practicing community musician from any part of the UK and abroad, who has an interest in engaging with the discussion and becoming part of a growing network of practitioners in community music settings.

This is the first in a series of symposia, designed to create a lasting legacy of opportunities to inform community music practice. We envisage future symposia taking place in all the UK nations and welcome future partners and potential hosts to get in touch.
