The Voices Foundation
Board Members
Location: London
Salary: Unpaid
Deadline: 02 January 2018
The Voices Foundation is looking for two new Board Members who are passionate about improving children’s lives through music

The Voices Foundation has a 25-year track record of developing transformational musicianship and singing programmes in early years, primary and secondary school settings. Over this time Voices Foundation has worked alongside over 1,000 schools and each year we reach on average 450 teachers and 15,000 children. Teacher development is at the heart of our work, and our whole-school approach enables us to embed regular musical learning for every child. Our aim is to generate sustainable change in schools by equipping teachers with musical skills, confidence and understanding through collaboration with skilled music educators and choral directors.

We are seeking two new Board members who are passionate about improving children’s lives through music to join our Board of Directors in a voluntary position. The areas of skills and expertise sought are as follows:

•             Development/Fundraising

•             Digital/Online Learning

The Voices Foundation plans to appoint new Directors to join the Board to support the organisation as we plan the next phase of development. We have just completed a successful year achieving several important milestones in the delivery of our current strategy. 2018 heralds our 25th anniversary year which we will mark with a range of exciting projects involving musical performance, the development of new fundraising strategies and the launch of a pioneering online ‘teacher learning centre’.

Commitment

As a minimum, Directors should be available each year for four Board meetings at the Voices Foundation offices in London. Being a Director of Voices Foundation requires strong commitment and it is an extremely rewarding experience. Individuals should be committed to ensuring effective governance and be supportive of the aims and values of the organisation.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME), female and disabled people are currently under-represented, the board would particularly welcome applications from these applicants. All appointments will be made on merit.
