Walking the Boundaries, Bridging the Gaps, Canada *11-13 May 2017

York St. John University ICCM and the Laurier Centre for Music in the Community (LCMC) invite you to explore perspectives on the impact of music in a variety of community sectors at this international community music conference

Keynotes: Glen Carruthers (Community Music in Higher Education), Mary Cohen (Music in Incarcerated Settings) and Brydie-Leigh Bartleet (Bridging The Gap with Music and First Peoples)

Symposia Sessions: Andrea Creech (Music and Older People), Roger Mantie (Music and Leisure), Rich Marsella (Community Music Schools), Kelly Laurilla (Music and Indigenous Research), Deanna Yerichuk (Diversity in Educational Settings), Joanne Gibson (Inclusivity: Looked-After Children and Music), Darren Thomas (Indigenous Thanksgiving)

Workshops: Phil Mullen, Pete Moser, Mary Cohen (Yoga Mudra), Karen Burke (Gospel Choir).

Conference themes will deal with boundaries and margins and how challenges and gaps might be bridged through participatory music making. Paper presentations, narratives or other formats describing practices in community music are welcome. Submissions are due January 6, 2017. Please note that Wilfrid Laurier University Press will publish selected conference proceedings in a forthcoming book publication.
