Health workshops in Norwich

Summary:
Community Music East is involved in a pilot project for people with mental health issues.
Date Posted:
25 Jan 2007

Community Music East is taking part in a pilot project which looks at alternatives to medication for people with mental health problems. The organisation will work with health professionals in GP surgeries to identify patients who could benefit from music and media activities which are designed to develop creativity and social skills. The local primary care trust will record prescribed medication over 15 months to monitor the impact of this project, and others. Funded by the Norwich Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, ‘Your Good Health’ will run taster sessions in community venues and aims to alleviate social exclusion caused by mental health.
